LG took an important step for closing its mobile activity. The latest LG phones have deployed the production chain and the company will no longer manufacture handsets after Monday, according to the Asia Business Daily. Engadget contacted LG for confirmation.
The company announced its projects at the beginning of April to mitigate its telephone activities, but continued to establish handsets for a few more months to complete contracts with telecommunications companies. A factory in Vietnam where LG has built many of its smartphones will be converted to a household appliance manufacturing plant, daily reports from Asia.
After years of losing money on the division, LG said it will kill its missing mobile activity by the end of July, although it can always sell devices after that date. People who buy a LG phone will always receive up to three years of updates to the Android operating system. The company will also provide four years of after-sales service from the date of manufacture. Meanwhile, the company would have been sold a limited offer of Velvet 2 Pro and LG rollable, that the company came to these in January, exclusively to its employees of South Korea.
