The best game portable games, for years, were dominated by Intel and Nvidia Hardware, something that did not start to change only in 2020 when AMD launched its Ryzen 4000 laptop processors. The Asus Rog Strix G15 is the next step of this direction, launched with not only the processors of the Ryzen 5000 series, but paired with the latest high-end Radeon graphics announced at Computex 2021.
So, certainly, there are a lot of things on this game laptop, as it happens so much against the grain of the material that we usually see in devices like this, especially in its price range. We do not know exactly how much the Asus Rog Strix G15 will cost when it strikes in the streets, but we have been told it will cost about $ 1,650 (about £ 1,160, £ 2,130). This is a fairly high price and puts it between the razor blade and the own Zephyrus G14, which are both some of the best game portable computers in the world right now.
And for the most part, this laptop game holds its own against its competitors. You can get pretty solid performance out and the battery life is amazing. But there are definitely some problems with this laptop that makes it difficult to give it a solid recommendation. At the same time, however, it shows how amd and nvidia are currently on laptop charts.
Price and availability
At the time of writing, we do not have a solid price tag for the Asus Rog Strix G15, but we received an estimated $ 1,650 (about 1,1960 £, 2,120 €) for publishing AMD Advantage – which is the listed configuration. To the right.
This configuration, with the AMD Radeon RX 6800M, is supposed to go to the head with laptops with the RTX 3070, which usually cost around the same way as the Asus Rog Strix G15. In fact, we recently reviewed the Asus Rog Zephyrus G15, which has a very similar configuration, with a Ryzen 9 5900HS and an RTX 3070, but with a 165Hz latter screen at $ 1,499 (1,599 £, 2,599 $).
This new laptop AMD Radeon RX 6800M has better game performance – at least on paper – and a much faster screen. But you will need to weigh these options against additional $ 150 and see if it’s worth it. With this level of material, we do not think a 300Hz display will be needed for a large majority of people, but if you are looking for a portable Esport machine that will not break the bank, it could be.
Design
If you want to close your eyes and imagine a game laptop, you probably will not be able to come with something too far from the Asus Rog Strix G15. It’s like traditional a game laptop that you will find today, even if it’s on the most enjoyable end of the aesthetics of the player.
This laptop game is equipped with a completely black colorization with red accents, at the back of the laptop and serves as a rubber foot for the laptop – which means that you will only see it when The laptop is upside down. This rubber foot also has text engraved on it that says “Back on top” next to the Asus Rog logo. So, yes, it’s a lot a game laptop. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but if you do not want everyone to think you’re taking in World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade Classic whenever You break your laptop, it might not be for you.

Our verdict
Despite some bugs and dated design, the Asus Rog Strix G15 could be one of the best value laptops of its category value. If you after some severely powerful game performances, you must keep an eye on it – but only if you are comfortable being an early adopter.
