There have been concerns about the use of China’s equipment for several years. Cusing the Chinese government could have software installed to allow access to access to information stored and transmitted by devices manufactured in China has resulted in a use of several Chinese companies in the use of government agencies. Restrictions against Chinese companies and the use of equipment they make for government purposes begin to facilitate the administration of biden. A pair of Chinese built drones manufactured by Da Jiang innovations, better known as DJI, have been erased for the use of the government by a new report published by the Pentagon.
Although the majority of the report be classified, what we know from the unclassified share is that the two DJI drones built for the government have been inspected and the report determined “no codes or malicious intent” has been find. The report determined that both drones were “recommended for use by government entities and forces working in US services”. The author of the report was the second adjutant in the command of the United States Army’s special operations, Adam Prater.
The objective of the report was to analyze the modifications made to the drones used by the Department of the Interior. The fleet of 500 drones has been temporarily grounded in 2020 after cybersecurity concerns have been raised. The only exception to their grounding has come with emergency use. The report comes after some legislators in Washington have raised concerns that there may be a sharing of drone data with the Chinese government.
DJI maintained this does not share the information with the Chinese government and that the company itself gets any of the data collected by the drones. Bozz Allen Hamilton released a report last summer that also found no evidence by the company’s data or data transfer. Other Chinese companies have also been blocked to have access to government contracts in the United States, including Huawei and ZTE. The Biden administration is conducting a review of these companies and a favorable result could see deleted from the blocked list.
