Advanceing ahead, Tesla will store all cars data it sells in China to a local data center within the country. The announcement comes after the Chinese government has banned Tesla vehicles of military facilities on spying fears and the company has taken social media to address these concerns. At the time, Tesla said he had planned to open a local data center by the end of June.
“We have set up a data center in China to locate data storage and will continue to add more local data centers,” said the company on the Weibo Chinese social media website. “All data generated from vehicle sales of the Chinese continent market will be stored in China.” In the same statement, the company announced that it also worked on a platform that will give Tesla owners in China a way to access their own data.
While the Wall Street Journal notes, the country will soon require all foreign car companies to store vehicle data in China. After the draft legislation previously earlier in the month, the country also plans to enable automakers who have adopted a security assessment to send data abroad.
