Netflix has updated its list of the 10 best most monitored movies on its platform. The list, which is topped by the extraction starring Chris Hemsworth, join five other films that were qualified positive at the critical aggregation site, rotten tomatoes. Another four (Confidential Spenser, Murder Mystery, The Midnight Sky and 6 Underground) are qualified rotten, which means that the critics were more mixed in the films.
The list, which is based on the number of homes that each film viewed within the first four weeks that are available, has clearly been biased by the visualization of the pandemic. Seven of the ten films were released in March 2020 or later, and the most recent addition is the army of Zack Snyder of the dead, which is located in the tenth place with George Clooney, the midnight sky of George Clooney.
Here is the list, from the deadline, with the number of households that are assembled during the first four weeks per film for two minutes or more:
Extraction – 99 million
Bird’s box – 89 million
Confidential Spenser – 85 million
6 underground – 83 million
Mester Mystery – 83 million
The old guard – 78 million
Enola Holmes – 76 million
Project power – 75 million.
(tie) the midnight sky and the army of the dead – 72 million
Keep in mind that the army of the dead is a projected number, since the film has only a few weeks of age.
Mystery of murder, in case you forgot it, it was a comedy film of 2019 starring Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston, while the 2018 bird box was a post-apocalyptic thriller starring Sandra Bullock. 6 Underground was Michael Bay’s first action film for Netflix, and landed in December 2019.
Every other film on the Top 10, then released after 2020 February.

What does the list about our Netflix visualization habits tell us?
We all needed something to see in 2020 and the first half of 2021, and Netflix was there for us. Not all these movies were great, but they felt enough like the “real” movies that you saw on the big screen that filled the gap, and the spectators clearly struggled them.
The old guard and the extraction gave us fleshy action sequences while the MCU continued in hiatus. The midnight sky scratched our itching for a heavy sci-fi movie, even if it was not adstra. Enola Holmes offered a very well received family film, while there was no real competition.
Netflix always stood up to win from a pandemic that made us trapped indoors for most of a year, but in justice, many of these films were quite good, or at least, good enough. It will be interesting to see which Netflix’s original, if any, will break the 10 best that the theaters will open around the world.
