A company called Venus Aerospace Corp. Continues a hypersonic space plane that likely to take people from Los Angeles in Tokyo in about an hour. The trip to their proposed space aircraft would take off from the ground as a conventional aircraft and would fly up to a high cruise altitude. Once at this cruise altitude, a rock booster ignite and would push the aircraft at the edge of more than 9,000 mph.
It’s about 12 times the speed of sound. The aircraft would travel at this incredible speed for about 15 minutes before slipping against the atmosphere to slow down and possibly land in a conventional airport just as it took off. Venus was founded by a pair of former Virgin Orbit LLC employees, and the company currently has 15 employees.
Most workers there are veterans from the spatial industry. Efforts to create a space aircraft failed in the past, but the team believes that their efforts will work. The company points its more efficient engine that allows the aircraft to manage the extra weight supplied with wings, landing equipment and reaction engines for take-offs and landings.
Venus admits that it is not close to conducting test flights, and the form of the aircraft is always a work in progress. Scale model tests are defined to begin this summer and Venus has obtained a US Air Force search grant. The Company also seeks funding from the Ministry of Defense. Once this raises sufficient money to complete the project, the company believes that it will take about a decade or more.
Venus also admits that there are mysteries with their business plan. It is difficult to know how much flight could cost and if enough people would be willing to pay the probably important premium compared to a conventional flight to save a few hours.
