The Autonomous flight company of Google-Solsédée Merlin will feed a fleet of 55 aircraft

Remote control and automated assistance software slowly crawls into non-commercial aircraft. Compared to autonomous technology, these systems have had easier driving with aerial safety regulators because of their coexistence with human operators. But, a handful of autonomous and autonomous flight companies strive to change that. Today, one of these startups, Boston – Merlin Labs, announces a partnership that will bring its automation software integrated into a fleet of 55 aircraft aircraft.

The pact with the dynamic aviation of the aerospace coincides with the emergence of Merlin in stealth mode, scoring the first time that its technology for fixed-wing aircraft will be used publicly. In recent months, the startup silently tests its owner software on a range of aircraft, including turboprop aircraft, in its steering center dedicated to the port of Mojave Air & Space. The tests include the first aircraft of its dynamic aviation partnership.

Merlin says it has generated $ 25 million funding from Backers, including Google Ventures, the venture capital arm of the alphabet. We already know that Google co-founder Larry Page has already mentioned the car startups in the suburbs Aero and Kitty Hawk, so that the company’s participation here is hardly surprising. The parent of the giant’s search also exploits a Waymo autonomous car division.

Like its main reliable robotics of rival, the ultimate goal of Merlin is to inform the heavens with any crowd of unmanned passenger and cargo plans. The company indicates that its autonomy platform is “agnostic of the aircraft” allowing it to be renovated to existing and new models. “This agreement represents a major major trading milestone as well as Merlin’s commitment to support larger and more complex aircraft,” said Matthew George, c
