IKEA Symfonisk frame image is a disguised sound speaker

The Swedish furniture brand IKEA benefits from the popularity and awareness of its minimalist design, its DIY assembly and, more recently, integration with IoT technologies. Unlike SMART Home product manufacturers, IKEA includes elegantly and sometimes bizarre-connected internet features. Its new attempt could be to sell you a Symfonisk IKEA image frame that is not really an image frame, but more like an artistic decoration that hosts an invisible sound speaker inside the frame.

This IKEA brand Art Deco sound appeared for the first time last April in the Teasers of a new collaboration between the furniture manufacturer and the smart speaker manufacturer. This is not the first time that both worked together, of course, but this Symfonisk photo frame could be their strangest. Again, it also goes perfectly in line with the IKEA thrust to mix the technology with the rest of your furniture.

The product page, which has not yet been translated at the time of this writing, does not have much in the path of visuals, ironic of something that is supposed to be an artistic image frame. All visitors will be able to see are a section of the frame and the surface in the middle. Judging by this, it does not seem to be a real picture frame where you can put your own images in.

The Symfonisk image frame is rather a Wi-Fi speaker in a rather unusual form. With the name of Sonos on it, there is a sound quality guarantee and, more importantly, wireless connectivity with audio sources. It is not explicitly indicated, but the edge indicates that AirPlay 2 is supported.

For a price tag of $ 199.00, you can probably opt for a better Sonos speaker or one with more features. Again, these can not disguise themselves as pieces of art and amaze your guests anyway.
